This is a pretty unique audio recorder, it looks like a power bank, but it’s an sound recorder. It has a lot of very clever features. The instructions are very easy to understand and I had no problem getting it to work. When you turn it on, it just starts recording, but then it shuts off all the lights and sits there doing it’s thing. When you turn it off it flashes some LEDs to let you know it saved the file. You can plug the special included earphones into the USB port and listen to the recordings, or plug it into a PC to play or transfer the recordings. I tested it with a Windows 10 PC and it worked great. It comes configured to save the files as WAV files, which gobble up memory like crazy, but it’s easy to change it to MP3 by just editing a configuration file in it’s built in memory when it’s plugged into a PC. There are several bitrates you can choose from, as there is always a balance between file size and quality, so if you don’t need to store a lot on it at a time, and want high quality, set a high bitrate, but if you require a lot more recorded time you can reduce the quality and it’s memory will last a lot longer. It’s nice that you can set it the way you want it. It also has features for only recording when there is something to record, which can be handy, but it’s not good to be in that mode if you are trying to record something like a lecture because it will keep shutting off and turning on, but when it turns back on you miss a tiny bit of the audio… but again, it’s nice that it’s a configurable option. The sound quality is not as good as it would be with an external microphone, but I think it’s adequate for recording speech, it’s obviously not going to be good enough to record music of any kind, and if you think you would be able to do that with something this size, your expectations are just too high.I was hoping I could use it with a USB wireless microphone, but unfortunately that did not work, sometimes I make videos with 2 cell phone and a GoPro, and I have to pick one of the phones to record the audio track, but it would be much nicer if I could use this for my audio track and that would allow me to stop recording on either phone to reposition it as needed without loosing my audio track, but I knew there was only a very slim chance my transceiver for my wireless microphone would work on this kind of device, and so I’m not really surprised it didn’t work… and I really can’t dock it a star over something it wasn’t likely to do.Overall I’m pretty happy with it, it seems very well thought out and it is very easy to use and easy to configure. If you need to make some audio recordings and don’t want to feel conspicuous doing so, and you don’t need an external microphone, this is a good solution.
